Through the years, this wonderful couple had been concentrating on their children, but now it was time to turn their attention to their home and give it an update. Comfort and functionality were key. The living room is an extension of their family room. They wanted it to be comfortable and easy to move the furniture around for optimal TV viewing. To achieve this, we put each chair and the ottoman on casters. In the kitchen, we painted the cabinets, chose new lighting, and added a new backsplash and counter top. We then added an interesting new dining table with upholstered head chairs.
Welcome to the Neighborhood…A Year in Progress
Buying a new home can be a burdensome financial proposition. Add to that the cost of moving and you’ll likely notice your depleted reserves before you’ve even begun to consider any updates or renovations to the new house. And then, there’s new furniture (or reupholstering the old), appliances and art. The good news is that you don’t have to do it all at once. Many families prefer to take their time. This client moved to Chappaqua a year ago. They wanted to take it slowly, make good decisions and keep within budget. We started with a plan…a paint story for the whole house and floor plans for the main rooms. Here is what we have accomplished: The Master Bedroom: We…
A Residential Reset
As time passes and life changes, we don’t always use our homes exactly the way we did when they were first decorated. Maybe the kids were young and the space was designed with durability in mind while entertaining was low on the list of priorities. Add to that the fact that generations shift and, like it or not, we may find we’ve inherited a parent’s furniture. The kids grow up and suddenly you find you’re using your home in an entirely different manner. Your space must evolve with your stage of life and, meanwhile, your new acquisitions need to blend with your decor. As was the case with this recently completed project. This client asked us to breathe new life…

Welcome to the Neighborhood – CHAPPAQUA STYLE
OK, imagine this scenario. You’ve just purchased a new home in Westchester and are excited to bid adieu to NYC apartment living in favor of a house in the ‘burbs. It needs some work, however – paint, new carpet, custom closets and, of course, new furniture – but you and your husband are busy professionals with two young children. Between decisions to be made, measurements to be taken and deliveries to accept, it gets tricky and running back and forth is definitely not possible. Well, here’s how we at Alison Friedricks Interiors like to welcome new families to the neighborhood. We made the initial connection on Facebook’s Chappaqua Moms page and immediately understood the challenges facing this young family because…
Alison Friedricks Interiors Welcomes Zoe Moskowitz
Spring has sprung at Alison Friedricks Interiors with a whirlwind of new and exciting projects and we’re pleased to have some extra help from the Greeley Senior Experience. Zoe Moskowitz has joined our staff and will get an inside look at the interior design industry and some firsthand experience as she finishes the school year. In addition to handling calls and managing orders, Zoe will join Alison Friedricks on appointments and looks forward to learning about choosing paint colors, coordinating fabrics and accessorizing a space. While her own home is designed in the Arts and Crafts style, she appreciates a mix of new construction with older charm and thinks that design should revolve around comfort. Most importantly, every home should…
